Oh yes, it has been way too long...I know you guys have been waiting with bated breath to hear what has been making me so darn happy of here and I hate to keep you waiting any longer. SO, here you have it. Things that make my heart happy!

(clockwise from top left)
1. Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy Etsy Shop - I may be partial since this is my talented cousin Virginia and her artsy husband D'Arcy, but her new etsy shop holds super cute new baby slings for Moms. These are the first of many new items to be featured on their shop, so keep an eye out and definitely "heart" their shop.

2. PERU - I don't know if I have told you all about our fabulous plans to visit Peru this August for our third anniversary, but we are so excited. It helps me get out of bed some mornings. I just think about hiking up the side of a mountain, rounding a curve and seeing the magical Machu Picchu. Sigh, heaven.

3. Aveda Tea - This one is in honor, because as I was brainstorming this post, I was sipping on Aveda Tea. After countless unnecessary stops in the store just to sample this tea, I finally broke down and bought a box. It is so calming and zen.  Great for helping to calm your day or calm your throat when you have a cold.

4. Inspiration Binder - Let me introduce you to my new inspirational binder.  Due to my ever-growing pile of magazines and lonely tear outs, I decided I needed to get organized. This is my new binder, purchased from Target, that will neatly house all of my tear outs of things that inspire me - poses I may want to try, lighting that looks amazing...anything that calls my name. I think this is an important part of a photographer's journey to grow and try new things. I will let you know how I like it!

5. Target Romper - There has been a lot of discussion out there with the new trend (or should I say renewed trend?) of rompers. As The Artisann said "To Romp or Not to Romp?"  I can firmly say that I choose to romp. My new romper from Target is my go-to outfit for the weekend. Since it is one piece, it requires minimal thinking on my part, is effortlessly comfortable and I actually look like I pay attention to fashion!  What is not to love?

6. Last, but not least, POOL TIME. Every day, I have been scheming to see how I can get my way next to a pool. Our weather in Houston has been surprisingly hot, like dead of summer hot, and the only thing that makes me happy is envisioning myself jumping into a pool and floating on water.

Feel free to leave a comment with anything amazing that has been making you happy lately.
Happy Friday!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial day weekend! I had a moment to step back, relax and enjoy life this weekend. Who doesn't love to swim and float their heart out? :)

I would like you to think that our household went along in blissful happiness after the purchase of our beautiful new couch....but this is not the case. Our wonderful daughter, Babygirl, took after it with a vengeance. Literally, the next day after I took those pictures. I'm not going to lie, I shed a tear and Chris and I wondered at how we could do to fix this problem. How could we stop her from doing it again? We shutter at the thought of declawing her at this older age, so we went to the pet store and bought them out on literally every product that promised to protect our couch.

At this time, I am happy to report that we have a solution that we are both cautiously optimistic will hold. It is so funny, I had to share. We put "kitty caps," similar to soft paws, on our dear girl and the only colors they had in her size were...pink glittery caps. I almost died. I haven't been so girly since I was 8 years old. But after the initial shock of the caps (I have the scratches to prove it), she has been in surprisingly high spirits. Even laying seductively this morning with her paws outstretched....which allowed me to capture this:

She is truly a princess now. Have a great weekend!

As some of you may know, my husband builds the most beautiful, fantastic furniture. That means, our house is full of beautiful pieces of art. That being said, there has been one rather HUGE sore thumb in our house...our couch. I've hated it since the first day it stepped it's ugly little peg leg into our house. Without sounding too crazy with hatred for our over-plush puke green couch, she served us well, but her time was done. As we drove away from her on the side of the road (at a designated donation site), I looked back. Not with sadness, but with complete elation....someone new would be entering our lives the next day.

Ok, I'm being very dramatic here, but today was the day and we welcomed in a new family member.  Meet. Our. Couch.

Chris, Julie and Babygirl approved. Utter happiness.
