I once read an incredibly inspiring blogpost on Sarah Rhoad's blog and I have been saving it for the perfect day to write about. It made me stop, it made me think. Our life is a journey, not a destination. I constantly am striving to be the best me I can be - meaning the best wife, the best daughter, the best sister and the best artist that I can find deep inside me. Hope this inspires you to dig deep too...

Choice

To choose the see the world from a new perspective.
To choose joy.
To choose not to let others dictate your feelings.
To choose to stop fretting with insecurity and doubt.
To choose action and not distraction.
To choose to trust someone.
To choose creation versus stagnation.
To choose not to play it safe this time.
To choose to make your own path and forge your own way.
To choose to execute dreams rather than sitting on them.
To choose to let go of the outcome of things and embrace the journey.
To choose to be YOU unapologetically.
To choose to take responsibility instead of blaming others.
To choose to be fearless.
To choose to make things happen.
To choose to be bold and execute on that project that you fear.
To choose to be open to new people and experiences.

Choice = Power. Everyday it is up to me.

And since a post is always better with a picture, here is little Moses (aka Mo Mo). I spent the weekend in Dallas and he had me crackin' up the entire time.

I'm a girl. And we girls love all things dainty and mini. That's why I am obsessed with mini cards. I get a lot of questions from people I talk to about what my mini cards are that I offer in my collections. They are adorable little cards (literally no bigger than a stick of gum) that highlight 10 of the best engagement or bridal photos taken from the couples portrait session (come in packs of 100). On the back shares the information on how to access the gallery of the couple's wedding images. Most often, my couples use the cards at their sign in table for guests to grab on their way in or out. But I have also had a couple include in their thank you cards.  Either way, it is a fun way to give a piece of you to your guests!

Sometimes I work myself up into a tizzy. Life. Work. Being a good wife. It all takes work and it all takes 110% of me. My brain can start working on overload, creating to-do list after to-do list and being blinded by the big picture. Lara Casey's blogpost today made me stop, made me think - "Life is just too short." I wholeheartedly agree, which made me think...

     - Life is too short to keep beating myself up. Just breathe, take it all in and be the best I can be.
     - Life is too short to get bogged down by to-do lists. I need to stop checking off boxes and start dreaming BIG.
     - Life is too short not to listen fully to the people around me. In short - stop multi tasking life.
     - Life is too short not to run away to the four corners of the world sometimes. There is so much to see, so much to do - don't waste a second.
     - Life is too short not to love the people around me to my greatest potential.
     - Life is too short not to unplug and unwind when needed.
     - Life is too short to not have fun on the journey.

Lara - thank you so much! And yes, Amanda, it is Cape Town!! We were driving along the coast to Cape Point - heaven!

cousin ann:

you're so right, cousin! (as i stare at my to do list). i'd like to chuck them all and start afresh. if i did, would i even notice that those things didn't get done?

Julie Branyan:

Julie, you are so right! I think life just keeps moving so quickly that it's hard to stop. My husband reminds me every day to get out and go for a walk. It's amazing how it lets you refocus and get even more excited about what you are doing. Thanks for this post. I need remember keep this phrase in the back of my mind.

Although summertime means SUPER busy time for me, it also means hanging out with friends. There is just a feeling in the air. A feeling of silliness, fun times and being free. Or maybe I am just feeling the extreme heat which makes me light headed - haha.

Anyway, I got the chance to hang out with my friend Christina, also known as xteena on twitter. We talked photography, summertime and also experimented with how many bubbles you can blow in a cup of milk. Random? I know.

Just for fun, here are some images I snapped.

Just in case you were wondering, we were hanging out at my FAVORITE coffee shop - Antidote.

Keep enjoying summertime!
