Many rumors have been flying around about my BIG REVEAL.  Most notably, my mother asked me if I was pregnant.  :)  I'm sorry to disappoint, but my big reveal has nothing to do with babies, but more importantly has to do with new, really cool stuff.

I teamed up with one of the most talented designers I know, August Kovach, and gave my look and feel a little face lift.  I wanted my brand and my business to more accurately portray who I am and my goals in photography.  Fun, quirky, and full of life.  I am all about capturing REAL people - who they are in a picture, in a moment, in life.  In honor of this goal, August helped me create a whole suite of items that are like my little brand army.  They go out into the world and tell everyone they know who I am.  I'm kidding.  My goal was to create an experience for my clients and make sure that any piece I send out into the world makes a statement and leaves people with a little piece of who I am and who I am as a photographer.

Why a hummingbird, you might ask?  A smart little card company, Papyrus, says this:

"Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration.  The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has a meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation."

Perfectly said.

My "new, cool stuff" and I had a photoshoot.  I know it's hard to believe, but they look even better in real life.  Here are some of the main items.

Today was/is a good day.  Although the sky was dark and gloomy, the temperature dropped.  In Houston, that is a miracle.  To be able to walk to my car without breaking a sweat is a miracle!!

In honor of my lifted spirits, I am going to do an installment of "things that make my heart smile."  I am no expert in any means, but these are just items, thoughts or places that make me happy and make my world a better place.

favorite things IIb.jpg

(left to right, up and down)

1. Daily Ann-tidote - this witty blog not only makes me smile because it is written by my super fun and bubbly cousin, but because she always has the greatest tips!  Whenever I need to buy a present or organize my closet, I look to my cousin!

2. Miike Snow - My super smart cousin recommended Miike Snow to me and I have never looked back.  The first song, Animal, always has me bouncing in my seat.  Anything to make my hours in front of the computer a little more enjoyable, right?

3. mang'Oh - Who knew this was a family post?  I can't help it though, they always make me smile!  This is for all the New Yorkers out there or anyone that frequents New York City.  My sisters have an AMAZING yoga studio in midtown.  My talented sister Erica received her yoga certification from the prestigious Laughing Lotus in New York and has since been changing lives all over New York.  I swear to you.  When I lived in New York, I used to follow her around to all the different studios she taught at like a puppy dog to take her classes.  Her melodic voice and challenging moves will help change your body and mind.  Gosh, I sound like an ad...but I'm serious!  My savvy sister Cindy runs the business side and together they make such a great team!

4. Cape Town, South Africa - I am counting down.  40 more days until I turn off my computer and run away to South Africa.  Chris and I are not looking back for twelve days while we experience a safari in Kruger Park, the beaches in Camps Bay and all the wine we can drink.  We are PUMPED.  This is a picture I took when I was there with my sister last year, sigh...

5. My New Bag - I don't spend a lot of money on my clothes or accessories, I am much more easily enticed by a new lens or lighting accessory.  But there has been something I have been thinking about for awhile.  I need a STAPLE bag.  One that I would use for forever and would go with the vast majority of my closet.  So, here it is!  I bought the Marc by Marc Jacobs Large Salma Satchel (on sale, of course!!).  Heaven!

6. Berripop - Last, but not least.  The ultimate addiction lately is frozen yogurt.  Not the ice cream kind, but the actual frozen yogurt kind.  It is SOOOO good and I get to put as much fruit on top as I want.

Wanna comment with things that make your heart smile?  :)

Okay, so because I tortured my husband by posting funny pictures, I thought I would return the favor on myself.  This is me.  These are my pictures in a totally raw, unedited (kind of) way.  Can you tell I am working on a project for our home?  My goal: funny pictures of Chris and I.  Who wouldn't love?  I promise to post pictures of the finished product.  Until then, enjoy a good laugh on Tuesday.  And I already know, I'm a dork.  :)

**Pictures taken by my fabulous friend, Jorge Ungo.

As many of you know, my husband is incredibly talented at making kick a** furniture.  Unfortunately, our house is about the size of a matchbox and only so many of his gorgeous creations can fit inside of its walls.  That is how one of my favorite pieces, the bamboo coffee table, is up for sale.  It is very simplistic in its design, but gorgeous in its functionality and unique materials.  Bamboo and carbon steel - can you get much better than that?

Let me know if you or anyone you know is interested!  If not, you can still enjoy the view - isn't he talented?

It's important to be able to laugh at yourself, right?  Well, I decided to also give you a reason to laugh this Friday night.  Here is a pic of me at Nirmeen & Aly's wedding back in July.  Kim snapped this pic of me in action and I laughed REALLY hard when I saw.  Don't judge me on the short socks.  This was the fourth day, mind you, and I was running low on essentials.  :)

If you are wondering what the fashionable bag is that I am carrying, it's my shootsac by Jessica Claire.  I wouldn't go to a shoot without it!  PLUS, I just bought a new gorgeous cover called Viceroy (the cover below is Brazen).  The moment I saw it, I knew it was me.  It's important to make a fashion statement, even when shooting (don't ask what kind of statement my short socks make).

Happy Friday!
