On the most perfect day of the year so far, I was excited to meet up with Melissa who brought her most favorite people out for a photoshoot. The main reason we were meeting up was a special visitor from Germany - Sigrid!

I shot Melissa's family last year for the holidays and this time was just as much fun. Her family (especially her Dad!) is never at a loss for making everyone laugh. We had wine, a picnic blanket and the landscape of the Discovery Green to play in.

Enjoy some of my favorite images!

The other Sunday, I was excited to meet the adorable Kelly family. There was a picturesque pumpkin patch near my home at the St. Luke's Methodist Church and I had been dying to shoot there. In my mind, pumpkins = smiles on children and adults.

Enjoy some of my favorites from our day!

Last Saturday, I had SO much fun hanging out with the beautiful Daniell and the most enchanting little woman ever - Kaily.  Her eyes sparkle as she smiles and she easily grabbed my hand as she led me around Sugarbaby's to look at cupcakes or to the next tree looking for squirrels at the park.  I understand now why Daniell so movingly talks about how Kaily has made her life a better place.

Funny story - I actually grew up on the same street as Daniell, we lovingly talked about how we are from the "ghetto" and that being from the 'lief gives us a harder, cooler edge in life.  LOL.  I try at least.

All I can say, is that I love looking at these images.  Not just because they are seriously THE most gorgeous mom and daughter ever, but because their exuberant spirits shine through in their smiles.

We then ventured off to the park in front of the Menil Collection museum. There was a swing that Kaily just couldn't stay away from...

I LOVE the next three images.  The first one CRACK me up! She is so adorable it hurts.

This is my favorite series of images...are they not just gorgeous together?

This one is my ultimate favorite. Something about the casual happiness...just makes me happy too.

Fantastic! We have a cute little cupcake shop here and I've been DYING to do some photos there for a client. Now I think I will have to get my husband to do some of my daughter and I instead!
I love the honesty and innocence you've captured in these images!

Sudeep Cherian:

wow. i love these pictures. you definitely have some talent Julie! Haven't seen you or Daniell in so long. Great to see that everyone is doing well. It's funny because I tell people up here in Seattle that I grew up in the hardcore 'ghetto' too, but no one believes me.

My Lipra is one of my oldest friends - not in AGE, but in years that she has been a part of my life. ;) When she told me seven or so months ago that she was going to have a baby, I was THRILLED. I made her promise me several times that I would get to take newborn pictures. There is just something about those tiny fingers and toes and plump lips...I'm in pure bliss after I leave every baby shoot! She then asked me to take maternity pictures. I paused. Not because I wouldn't do anything for April, but because I have never taken maternity pics!! I just get so nervous. There is a woman with a HUGE belly with an entire human being in her tummy!!!

Needless to say, April was adventurous and did anything I asked her to do and we had a TON of fun! As a woman, I can't help but tout the magic of a woman's body after a maternity shoot and how empowering and nurturing it must feel to have a life growing inside you...

Here are the fruits of our efforts...enjoy!

Congratulations Lipra - can't wait to meet your little man!

I don't know if anyone else feels the way I do, but every time I turn around there is a baby...or a new friend telling me they are pregnant.  What is in the water people?!

I've been having such a wonderful, long weekend so far.  Yesterday, I was soooo excited to hang out with my good friend April.  She lives in Dallas now, so I am not able to see her as much as I would like.  And this time she got to show me that, you guessed it, she is pregnant!  She is actually seven months along and we are excitedly planning a full-fledged maternity shoot next month, so stay tuned!  Until then, I wanted to share a pic that I quickly snapped.  Having a growing life inside you is pretty amazing...
