I thought I better blog something REALLY good after being quiet for so long. How about a little travel? Why not?! For Labor Day this year, Chris and I traveled with our good friends, Jorge and Brian, and went to their favorite place - Belize. I had never been before, but the tropical, relaxed atmosphere sounded like just what I needed. :)

The journey started by us landing in Belize City. It is not the most beautiful place, but still intrigued me with its golden light and people that had no problem talking to us - offering to do my hair in braids (even white girls can do it apparently) or telling us in depth about the political situation in the country (that was our cab driver). We didn't have much time here, but I still walked around and snapped a few images. Then we were off on a boat to Caye Caulker...

Sorry for my looong silence. I can hardly believe that October is flying by. My days have been filled with unpacking and getting settled. Austin is just as amazing (if not more) than I could have imagined. It vibrates with energy and offers tons of fun things to do. I have been hanging out with family, taking long walks around Lady Bird Lake and enjoying yoga at Black Swan Yoga. Since posts are always better with photos, here are some of my instagrams of my days.  I promise - lots of photography posts coming soon!  Enjoy!

Many of you guys have been speculating as to what my "news" could be and I want to say firstly that I am NOT PREGNANT.  :)  We're not quite ready for that yet.  But my husband and I do have news about a big next step in our lives and that is that we are moving our home base from Houston, TX to Austin, TX. After years of trips back and forth, we have always loved the youthful vibrancy of Austin and are so excited to call it our new home.

For my photography business, the even better news is that Austin is super close!  I will be covering both Austin and Houston (as well as destination locations) with portrait and wedding photography, so have no fear if you are contacting me in the near future for photography, I would love to be a part of your big day!

Our big move will be happening a little bit at a time this October, with the house items leading the way this Saturday. They will be the first items to land in our new abode.

Isn't she cute?! My husband is busy making new furniture to fill it and my dreams are filled with shower curtains and paint colors. :)  Just in case anyone needed any convincing that Austin is the place for us, here are FIVE reasons why I am pumped to to move:

austin music_rev.jpg

1. The Music Scene - Chris and I love good music (although our taste differs at times) and I can't wait to have the opportunity for so many music festivals and concerts galore from all of our favorite artists.

2. If you haven't been to Austin before, you may have heard about the CRAZY love affair all Austinites have with their city. Amazing pride and excitement that their city is the BEST. I have to agree.  :)

3. You may have also heard that there tends to be a lot of "hippies" or "granolas" in Austin. Although I don't plan on wearing the outfit above, I do plan on relishing the organic/green scene which is filled with sustainable restaurants, natural grocery stores and an overall love of the planet. I have been called granola here in Houston, but I have a feeling I may be seen as "conservative" (gasp) until I have fully acclimated myself to the city. Please don't take this to mean that I will not be taking showers from now on - LOL.

4. Texas Hill Country - this image gets me so excited! As you know, I am a field/golden sunlight junky, so the idea of doing Texas Hill Country weddings or portrait sessions gets me super excited! There are beautiful outdoor locations everywhere in Austin and I can't wait to explore!

5. Never-ending Entertainment - There is never a short supply of cool things happening indoors and outdoors. From music festivals, to olympic events for everyday people, to festivals of every kind - I can't wait to jump in and have fun!

Anything we should know or do once we get to Austin?? PLEASE leave a comment and tell me!  We need all the help/advice we can get!

Happy Friday!

This little family of four stole my heart when I met them. Nicole and I coordinated the wedding photography only through email, so I was excited to finally meet her. Her and Jack have been together for over 11 years and have two adorable children. They decided to make their dream come true and have a small, intimate ceremony on the beach in Galveston. All of the details (even details on her dress!) were lovingly made by Nicole herself and she did such a great job. It felt so special to capture everything about this night and celebrate two people and the beautiful family they have created together.
